Massage therapy

Massage is one of the most requested services today. In our modern times, people need ways to release stress, and massage therapy is the answer. Not only does it relieve stress, it also is important for blood circulation, reduces lactic acid build up, balancing the bodies chemical messengers, eases the nervous system, and more. Become a therapist in about 7 months while attending school as little as two days a week! Looking for a more rigorous schedule? Look no further! We accommodate those with busy lifestyles, and those looking to get to work as quickly as possible.

Completion of this program will qualify the student to take the Florida State approved Exam, which  is the MBLEx. Two additional certifications are offered to Bonita Beauty Wellness Academy Students after completing the state exam. One is the National Certification Board for Therapeutic Massage and Body Work (NCBTMB) or students also have the credentials to take the ITEC Exam, which is an international approving agency for over 39 countries.

By enrolling in our massage program all students have the opportunity to take the ITEC exam, which upon graduation will differentiate their level of training, which could include working abroad (with an approved visa) or on a cruise ship. Our massage program teaches the allied modalities that are important for them to know to keep abreast with conditions they will see as licensed therapists.

Applicant needs to have a High School Diploma or GED and 18 years old. If Applicant does not have a High School Diploma or a GED applicant needs to take the TABE Test.

Learn a variety of techniques to relax muscles and help clients, with a focus on different parts of the body. You'll come out of this class knowing the fundamentals of massage, and setting yourself up to become an expert in the field.

Chair Massage

Chair Massage allows you to pinpoint exact problem areas on a client's back, shoulders, and neck, and take care of them quickly and efficiently. In addition, Chair Massage is a great way to sell yourself when looking to garner new clientelle.

Advanced fitness and massage therapy

This program offers you the best of both worlds… if you enjoy working out and helping others fell great and look fit you will be providing your clients with workout routines as well as making them feel good by use of your massage therapy abilities. As a massage therapist you will be learning the same modalities that are taught in our regular Massage Therapy program such as: Swedish and Stone Massage for stress reduction and relaxation, spa therapies, neuromuscular therapy, pre-and post sports massage techniques, myo-fascial release, and pain reduction therapy. Eastern modalities will also be introduced such as acupressure, shiatsu, Chinese cupping, reflexology, and polarity therapy. Your Personal Fitness Certification will only enhance your knowledge as it will present the latest research and practical applications in aerobics, stretching, use of machines, cross training for sports events, wellness and flexibility, stretching to increase range of motion from repetitive injury, trauma, and soft tissue injury related to on the job disabilities as well as the normal aging process. Additional emphasis will be placed on health assessment skills, pathology related to therapists, insurance billing, and chair massage used for marketing events. Another part of your training will be business segmented such as: how to market your private practice, how to start your own website without spending hundreds of dollars or paying someone else to do it, how to market yourself on-line, how to set up your massage and personal fitness practice, accounting strategies, and bookkeeping tips.

Cupping Technique

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on your skin for a few minutes to create suction. This style of therapy has been used for hundreds of years and still remains a popular technique used throughout the world.

Ashiatsu Massage

Ashiatsu is a barefoot massage technique in which the therapist delivers deep, broad, consistent pressure while utilizing their feet and body weight. Working with gravity instead of against it, Ashiatsu therapists are able to provide an effective therapeutic massage without causing pain or discomfort to themselves or the receiving client. This technique allows for an easy yet effective massage.

Thai Table Massage

Thai Table Massage consists of stretching of the entire body, focusing mainly on the lower half of the body. It moves deeper into the mechanical functions of the body working with deep muscle tensions. It can help to reduce headaches, increase energy and flexibility, ease sciatica and promote relaxation.
